Staying Inspired: How to Keep Your Passion for Music Alive!!
Have you ever stared at your guitar or keyboard for hours, waiting for inspiration to strike, only to feel… nothing?
Like the spark that once lit your soul has fizzled out, leaving you wondering if you’ve lost your magic?
Or maybe life’s responsibilities took over, and now you’re ready to return to the real you—the one whose soul spoke in melodies.
At Delmi Media & Entertainment, we understand this feeling all too well. Every artist who has been on our label has faced moments like this. But here’s the thing: music doesn’t leave us. It’s always there, waiting for us to find our way back. Staying inspired isn’t about chasing something new—it’s about reconnecting with what’s already inside.
For many of our artists, the journey back to inspiration starts with a simple question: Why did I fall in love with music in the first place? Whether it’s the memory of sneaking into family gatherings to sit by the speakers or the thrill of humming tunes while dodging chores, that initial joy is always there. Sometimes, all it takes is revisiting those roots to feel the spark again.
And then there’s the magic of exploring something new. One of our producers recently shared how diving into Afro-jazz for the first time felt like adding a new spice to their favorite soup. Ghana’s music scene is rich with possibilities, from traditional highlife rhythms to modern Afrobeats. Trying out a new genre, experimenting with songwriting, or picking up an unfamiliar instrument can reignite your passion in unexpected ways.
We also believe in the power of collaboration. Music thrives on connection. Some of our most memorable tracks started as casual jama sessions among friends or impromptu jams during studio breaks. Sharing ideas and energies with other creatives not only breathes life into your work but reminds you that music is a collective experience.
And let’s not forget the wealth of inspiration in Ghana itself. Our streets, festivals, and communities are alive with music. From the kpanlogo beats that fuel street dances to the timeless voices of legends like E.T. Mensah, our culture offers endless motivation. Even the sounds of market women singing their wares or children clapping games in the yard can remind you why music matters.
But after trying all these trial and error methods, sometimes, the best way to stay inspired is to pause. Take a break. Rest is as much a part of creation as the work itself. One of our vocalists swears by quiet evenings listening to nature’s symphony—a simple act that helps reset and recharge.
If you’re feeling stuck, try this:
- Reconnect with your roots. Drop the curse of knowing every style and every form of music and go back to the songs, genres, or albums that first captured your heart.
- Once you get a hold of your musical strings, step back into new musical territories or styles just to explore. Who knows? Your next favorite sound might be one you’ve never tapped into.
- Don’t go for it alone. Join forces with other artists or communities—it’s where magic happens. If not an artist, grab your closest one by the neck (not Really…) and ask them to jam with you even if they are horrible at it. Company helps!
- Embrace Ghana’s culture. Our music, from traditional to contemporary, is a treasure trove of stories waiting to inspire. Soak it like the vitamin A-F-R and O
At Delmi Media & Entertainment, our artists see music as the heartbeat of who we are. It tells our stories, binds our communities, and keeps our spirits alive. So, if you ever feel disconnected, remember this: music is always there, waiting to welcome you home.
As for us?
We’re here, creating, collaborating, and rediscovering the melodies that make life beautiful. What’s your story with music? We’d love to hear it.
Let’s keep the rhythm alive—together.
